Aiken County, SC—Outside there’s a grey color in the air that looks like snow…but like every weather forecast, there’s no guarantee.
Still, some are getting a little jump on things….just in case. The forecast calls for the possibility of snow, and maybe even a winter mix.
And since there’s a chance, the Department of Transportation isn’t taking one: Aiken County’s three DOT sheds are all on stand-by, trucks are lined up, and salt and sand are ready to be poured.
At the Kroger in North Augusta, no one appeared to be flocking in just yet to buy up all the milk and water, but some say it’s only a matter of time before that happens.
School officials in Edgefield and Aiken say they’ll step outside their doors—some will even drive around town—in the early hours of the morning to check out the roads.
Then they’ll let parents know if there will be any delays, and make sure it’s all clear before the first bus rolls out a little before 6:00 a.m.
DOT crews will head out if they need to take care of any slick spots that might become problems overnight…
Emergency coordinators and school officials say—if—there are any school closings or delays, they’ll be announced early tomorrow morning.
