ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - An Orangeburg County woman has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for driving drunk when she crashed her car, killing her 17-month-old daughter.
The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reported Saturday that 39-year-old Tonia McIver Faile of Neeses pleaded guilty to felony driving under the influence and child endangerment.
Faile was sentenced earlier in the week to 13 years and 12 years on the two charges, to be served simultaneously.
She was also ordered to pay $21,800 in fines.
Her baby Katie Catherine McIver was declared dead on arrival at a hospital after the crash about 4 a.m. on July 14, 2006. Troopers said the toddler was not in a child safety seat.
