COLUMBIA—The South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) announced Thursday, June 4, 2009 that Lance Corporal Lisa M. Lindler, of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, was fired after being arrested and charged for Driving Under the Influence and having an open container of alcohol in her private vehicle.
The charges were made by the Cayce Public Safety Department shortly after 10 p.m., Wednesday evening. SCDPS Director Mark Keel said a review of the video tape of the arrest assured him the dismissal was warranted. Lindler had served on the patrol since September, 1985.
“I am saddened that I have to take this action because of the simple fact that each and every Trooper knows first hand the deadly consequences of drinking and driving,” Keel said. “At the same time, it has been made abundantly clear to every trooper the personal consequences of indulging in behavior such as this.”
