New Ellenton, SC—A run for the money…New Ellenton Mayor Pro-Tem Terrence Williams set out to give just that to community schools.
Williams took a saturday last month and ran five miles to raise money for the schools that are faced with so many budget cuts. He wanted to raise $3,000 by getting businesses and people to pledge money for each mile.
Wednesday, he presented a check to the schools in New Ellenton for $3,310…way more than expected.
Mayor Pro-Tem Terrence Williams, New Ellenton, SC: “I had a lot of non-believers. I believe that’s where the donations came from, not thinking that I could make the run, so I just proved them wrong, just glad to be able to do it, actually I had a couple of miles left!“
Now, Williams is ready for “round two”...this time, he’s asking for a challenger to race against him to help raise money!
