Aiken, SC—A new company will be managing liquid waste at the Savannah River Site.

Our news partner, ‘The Aiken Standard’, reports that Savannah River Remediation (SRR) was given the $3.3 billion contract.

SRR will be responsible for treating and disposing of the radioactive liquid waste that is stored in underground tanks at the site.

The newspaper reports those tanks hold 35 million gallons of radioactive liquid waste.
