Hundreds of law enforcement officers from all over the two-state turned out today to honor Lt. Michael Frank. The Aiken County Sheriff’s spokesman was killed in a car accident last Saturday. While many of us knew him as the face of the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, he wore a lot of other hats, too…Count on Joy Howe for the story.

Clearwater, SC—Aiken County Sheriff Michael Hunt: “I stand before you with a heavy heart, to mourn the life of Michael Frank.“
Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton: “He was always dependable; he was always a professional, and always a gentleman.“
Sheriff Hunt: ”But I also stand before you very proud.“
Lt. Tim Pearson, North Augusta Public Safety: “We’ll really miss how he brought our profession up to state of the art.“
Wednesday morning, Lt. Michael Aiken County Sheriff’s campaign hat was on one side of the pulpit at Lakeside Baptist Church. On the other side…his jersey.
Tara Frank, Lt. Frank’s daughter: “While many of you knew him as lieutenant, or the night reporter, or the man in stripes, to us, he was just Dad.“
Sheriff Hunt: “A lot’s been said about Michael Frank, but he was just a good guy. Good family man, good to his kids, beloved by a lot of people, which is evident by the turnout today.“
Hundreds of law enforcement officers from agencies all over Georgia and South Carolina came to pay their respect.
Carlton: “Michael is probably one of the best public information officers in our state.“
And to support the two biggest loves of his life: his children.
Pearson: “He was a very loving father, he loved his children.“
Tara Frank: “My Dad will never be able to sit in the cistern at the College of Charleston when I graduate, he will never sit at North Augusta as Tip walks across the stage, he will never have the chance to walk me down the aisle, or be Tip’s best man, but that’s ok. Because while we think we need him here, the Lord has different plans.“
Lt. Frank will be missed here at WJBF News Channel 6, where he worked as a reporter for five years.
He’ll be missed on the ice, where he enjoyed officiating hockey games.
Sheriff Hunt: “We’re going to miss him.“
Tara Frank: “As I left that day, my Dad said, ‘I love you, Doodlebug, I’ll see ya later.‘ Today, Tip and I aren’t saying goodbye, we’re just saying ‘see ya later, Dad.‘“
Lt. Frank was buried at Pineview Memorial Park this afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tara Frank and Tip Frank education fund at First Citizens Bank.
