Aiken County, SC—Highway 278 is now closed from Highway 25 to Pine Log Road. Power crews have been working hard to get power restored. SCE&G is getting assistance from some Columbia crews.

Hundreds of homes have been without power for the past few days, after Friday night’s storms, but hopefully it won’t be that way much longer.

Petric Blocker, technician, SCE&G: “We got a good stab in it, yesterday and today. So probably another, at least another day and a half of work…some people can’t get it turned back on because of the destruction. The service tore off the house and they have to get a private technician so they might be out a little longer.”

Highway 278 will re-open Sunday night and then close again, Monday morning. There’s no word on how long this will last, but emergency crews and local traffic are allowed.
