GEORGETOWN, S.C. (AP) - Three emergency workers who died when a medical helicopter crashed on the South Carolina coast were devoted to their families and their work of helping others.

Kelvin Oakley, who worked with the pilot, flight nurse and paramedic who perished in the Georgetown County crash last Friday, said medical helicopter crews understand the risks of their jobs and are like family because they spend so much time together.

The first of the funeral services is Wednesday. Officials are also planning a community memorial service for next weekend.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash of the helicopter, which went down in the rain south of Georgetown.
