Greer, SC BMW Plant Celebrates 15th Anniversary

Workers at the Greer, South Carolina BMW plant marked the plant’s 15th anniversary this week. The plant has grown from about 600 employees in 1994 to about 5,000 workers.

Greer, SC—Workers at the Greer, South Carolina BMW plant marked the plant’s 15th anniversary this week.

The plant has grown from about 600 employees in 1994 to about 5,000 workers.

During the ceremony, BMW officials showed off the 1,500,000th vehicle made at the plant.

BMW’s president of manufacturing says, despite the economy, the company is going forward with plans to have a new plant completed by 2012.

Josef Kerscher, president, BMW Manufacturing: “It depends really on the, on the economy, and it’s not only about the American economy. As you know, we are producing for the world market, so it depends from the worldwide economy.“

Kerscher also says he thinks the economy will rebound soon.
