CSRA Movie Producers Talk About Working With David Carradine

Some across the world are mourning the lost of movie actor David Carradine. Officials in Thailand found his body hanging from a rope in his hotel room. WJBF News Channel 6’s Fraendy Clervaud talked with local movie producers who worked with Carradine earlier this year.

North Augusta, SC—No one knew “Long Shot” would be one of David Carradine’s final movies.

Ronald Bumgardner, Associate Producer, ‘Long Shot’: “David was great to work with, he was down to Earth.“

Ronald Bumgardner, Chris Forbes And Stan Finck are all from the CSRA. They worked with Carradine on the film “Long Shot” from October 2008 until May 2009. Some of the film was shot in Branchville, South Carolina, near Bamberg.

Stan Finck, Associate Producer, ‘Long Shot’: “What I like best is he was a storyteller. You could sit for for ten hours, ten days in a row, and he would continue with stories, some would were very helpful.“

Carradine plays the role of a US Marshal.

Chris Forbes, Executive Producer, ‘Long Shot’: “It’s about a sharpshooter, its about a guy, who in the Civil War, used to run with sharpshooters and these are guys who develop a talent for long-range shooting. As we move on into the West, he finds that his skills are no longer needed for gainful employment. He ends up taking with some outlaw gangs, people who can use this skills.“

Forbes says it was thanks to a distrubor on the West Coast that Carradine was in his film. Forbes says Carradine was very professional.

Forbes: “That’s what was amazing to me. He knew entire scenes. Iit took him 20 minutes, an hour, and he was ready to go with the full scene.“

When they heard news of Carradine’s death, they could not believe it…

Forbes: “This was like losing a member of the family because everytime you shot, these movies, you have an extended family.“

Forbes says working with Carradine was a dream come true and he’s glad his company will bring “Long Shot” to a theatre near you. And, you can watch “Long Shot” for yourself. It premieres at the Imperial Theatre on Saturday, June 27th. The show starts at 7:00 p.m. and there will be a $10 admission fee.
