Aiken Neighborhood Evacuated After Dynamite Found

According to Lt. David Turno, officers from the Aiken Department of Public Safety (ADPS) responded to call from the homeowner at 288 Sand Fox Place in Aiken, about 4:50 p.m., Wednesday afternoon.

Aiken, SC—According to Lt. David Turno, officers from the Aiken Department of Public Safety (ADPS) responded to call from the homeowner at 288 Sand Fox Place in Aiken, about 4:50 p.m., Wednesday afternoon.

The homeowner had found a stick of “military dynamite” on some nearby property and brought the dynamite home.

ADPS notified the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), who sent a Bomb Technician from Columbia, SC to secure and dispose of the dynamite. As a precaution, the neighborhood evacuated.

The location in which the dynamite was located is in the jurisdiction of the Aiken County Sheriff;s Office and they were also notified to investigate where the dynamite may have come from.
