An 11-year-old Waycross, Georgia boy died after being shot with a pellet gun. The boy’s family says D.J. Maxwell was hanging out with his friends, Friday night, when the incident happened. The family got a call saying they should come to the hospital.

The boy’s family says D.J. Maxwell was hanging out with his friends, Friday night, when the incident happened. The family got a call saying they should come to the hospital.

Felicia Thomas, D.J. Maxwell’s mother: “I really did think of it as a toy, too. I just didn’t like them, I never allowed them to play with them because I just didn’t like the toy situation, but I really did think of them as a toy…I did.“

Investigators have not released any other details on the incident.
