Augusta, GA—Two men are dead after an early Tuesday morning accident on the Gordon Highway at North Leg Road. The accident happened around 2:00 a.m.
The victims are identified as David Earl Hawthorne, Jr., who was the driver, and Timothy Frank Thompson. One of the victims was misidentified earlier in the day because the Coroner was given an incorrect name at the hospital.
The men were roommates and lived in Augusta.
Authorities say Hawthorne was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the truck after it flipped twice. He died at the scene. Thomson was wearing a seat belt. He died at MCG.
