Special RCBOE Election To Be Held November 3 To Replace Joe Scott

According to Richmond County Board of Elections Executive Director Lynn Bailey, at its special called meeting, held August 3, 2009, the Richmond County Board of Elections unanimously voted to call for the special election to fill the vacancy in Board of Education District 5 to be held on November 3, 2009 in conjunction with the scheduled General Municipal Election.

Augusta, GA—According to Richmond County Board of Elections Executive Director Lynn Bailey, at its special called meeting, held August 3, 2009, the Richmond County Board of Elections unanimously voted to call for the special election to fill the vacancy in Board of Education District 5 to be held on November 3, 2009 in conjunction with the scheduled General Municipal Election.

Qualifying for the special election will be held in conjunction with the qualifying period for the Augusta Commission and will begin on Monday, August 31, 2009 at 8:30 a.m., and will end on Friday, September 4, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. Qualifying will be held in the Board of Elections Office, 530 Greene Street, Room 104, Augusta, GA.

In order to be eligible to be elected to a seat on the Richmond County Board of Education an individual must have been a resident of the district from which they qualify for one year and of the Richmond County for two years immediately preceding the date set for the election. Individuals qualifying for Board of Education must be eligible to vote in the election for which they are a candidate. The qualifying fee is $100.00. 

The voter registration deadline for both the General Election and the Special Election to be held on November 3, 2009 will be Monday, October 5, 2009.
