Juanita Johnson was working out at the Brigham Senior Center.
And what gets her exercised is seeing young men going around in saggy pants, letting it all hang out.
“I think it’s very unbecoming, there’s a time and place for everything, when I was young I wore certain things but you know it looks terrible,” she said.
Johnson was not the only senior at Brigham pumped up about saggy pants, it’s something they would like to see the commission go after.
“I’m not surprised because it involves the whole community, there should be some kind of action against having you’re pants hanging,” said Gloria Lee.
“Because when the kids walk around with their pants below their behind they are disrespecting themselves, disrespecting me, disrespecting my family, so something has to be done,” says Chris Harris.
Commissioner Corey Johnson felt something had to be done, he proposed a saggy pants ordinance but before commissioners could vote he withdrew it but he says he made his point.
“One of the key things that happen from this we brought awareness that we are paying attention the community knows we don’t like it we want to do something to better our young people,” Johnson said.
But nineteen year old Garry Grant feels city leaders should have better things to do.
“I think there are too many other important issues that should be handled right now instead of droopy pants whether somebody walking down the street is wearing their pants to low,” said Grant.
But he could get an argument at Brigham, where a law against saggy pants has a lot of support.
“It’s too bad we do need a law, but I think we do because it’s not getting any better,” said Juanita Johnson.

There are plenty of other things to be worried about other than the way people dress, and passing laws that saying you can’t dress the way you want to. I think its crazy how people go crazy over the littlest things, yes it might be inappropriate but at least they wear long enough shirts to cover it up, I have seen worse things in public than baggy jeans, so instead of worrying about the baggy jeans worry about things that really matter like our economy instead of picking on teens because of the way they want to dress, remember you were young once just like them and you did crazy things that im sure the public wasnt too proud of either.
