Augusta, GA—A big downtown Augusta re-development project could get a new owner on Tuesday.

Last summer, it was seen as a symbol of Broad Street resurgence…it’s the J.B. White’s condo project.

But, the building is in foreclosure and being put up for sale by the Federal Desposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

City leaders are optimistic a new owner will be found and say this is no indication the local economy is in trouble.

Mayor Deke Copenhaver, Augusta, GA: “This is being impacted by the national economy. The lender on the project was not out of Augusta. I look forward to it coming into new ownership and seeing what they will do with it.“

The sale of the building will be conducted Tuesday morning on the front steps of the Augusta Municipal Building.
