Augusta, GA—A former Augusta mayor will forever be remembered in the Garden City.

Charles Devaney served as mayor from 1984 to 1995, right before the consolidation. He passed away in January 2007, and on Monday, a bronze plaque was unveiled on the Augusta Common to honor Devaney and his service to the city…thanks in part to the Leadership Augusta organization.

Rick Toole, Charles Devaney’s cousin: “I watched what he did and what he had as a vision for our community…Is a wonderful tribute to him.“
