Augusta, GA—Researchers are racing to produce a swine flu vaccine, and local health officials are bracing for more cases this fall.
MCG Hospital hosted a flu informational session Wednesday morning.
Doctors from the hospital, and others, came together to answer questions about the common flu and the H1N1 virus.
Columbia County and Richmond County school leaders were on hand to talk about how schools are dealing with the flu season.
Doctors say parents need to remain calm and not worry to much about the H1N1 flu.
Dr. Jim Wilde, MCg Health: “In normal flu season, about 36,000 people die across the United States, because of the flu. In a state the size of Georgia that means about 700 people are expected to die in a regular flu season.“
