***10:45 a.m. Update July 21***

A Burke County man is no longer missing Tuesday morning.

Monday night, we brought you the story of 35-year-old Silas Gabriel Fletcher.

When the story aired, Fletcher saw himself on the news and called the Burke County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy went out to verify the man’s identity.

We are glad to report that he is indeed who he claims to be.

Fletcher said he had been working on a local farm.

As early as Monday night, though, the man’s ex-wife had grave concerns about Fletcher’s safety.

Burke County, GA—Valorie Hutto, Silas Fletcher’s ex-wife: “My daughter got a phone call, two weeks ago, and that’s the last that we’ve heard from him.“

That’s the last reported time that anyone has heard from silas fletcher…unusual because he’s in touch with his 7-year-old daughter every day. Monday, Fletcher’s ex-wife, Valorie Hutto, drove 3-1/2 hours to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, giving any information she could on where he might be.

Hutto: “He made the comment that if he stayed here, ‘they’ would kill him. He never said who ‘they’ are.“

Sgt. Dedric Smith, Burke County Sheriff’s Office: “At this point, we have nothing.“

Frustrated, but determined, Sergeant Dedric Smith with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office says he’s at a loss…it’s like Fletcher just dropped off the face of the Earth.

Sgt. Smith: “We went out and checked the residence, the lights were still on in the residence, but there was no sign of anyone inside. The house was open, unsecured, and it just doesn’t seem natural for something like this.“

Sergeant Smith says he’s looking for clues from anyone…knowing someone out there knows what happened to Fletcher…giving any sort of hope to his family.

Sgt. Smith: “It makes it tough because we are already two and a half weeks behind. He could be anywhere right now.“

Hutto: “I want to know what happened, I’m concerned for my daughter. She needs to know what happened to her father, I pray to God that he’s okay. If anybody has seen him, or heard from him, any little thing, please contact the sheriff, because we need to know if he’s okay.“

Fletcher has a tattoo of a paw print on his chest that says, “Forever Bonded.“ If you do have any information, call your local authorities, you can always remain anonymous.

It would be helpful to say what phone number, what hours an investigator can be reached and to whom to speak, Richmond County Sheriff’s Dept. or Burke County or both?  Also, if you have seen him, you could write down what you saw before you talk to investigators so you make sure you give them as much information as possible, you never know what detail might make a difference.
