There’s more bad news at unemployment offices in Georgia. New figures from the Georgia Department of Labor show the number of people filing new, first-time claims for unemployment benefits is up again.

Atlanta, GA—There’s more bad news at unemployment offices in Georgia.

New figures from the Georgia Department of Labor show the number of people filing new, first-time claims for unemployment benefits is up again.

More than 88,000 people filed claims last month. That’s a 94 percent increase from last June.

In Augusta alone, more than 3,000 people filed new claims. That’s a 140 percent increase from last year.
