Georgia Department Of Labor Schedules Career Expo In Augusta
State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said Monday that the Georgia Department of Labor’s Augusta Career Center and the University of Phoenix will co-sponsor a career expo for employers, students and other job seekers in the area. The event will be held Thursday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on the Augusta campus of the University of Phoenix, located at 3150 Perimeter Parkway in Augusta.
ATLANTA – State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said Monday that the Georgia Department of Labor’s Augusta Career Center and the University of Phoenix will co-sponsor a career expo for employers, students and other job seekers in the area.
The event will be held Thursday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on the Augusta campus of the University of Phoenix, located at 3150 Perimeter Parkway in Augusta.
“Our career expos have long proven to be effective tools for matching good employers with qualified job seekers,” said Commissioner Thurmond. “I encourage job seekers to attend and take full advantage of the resources that will be available at the career expo, as well as those at the Georgia Department of Labor’s Augusta Career Center.”
The event will feature about 45 employers. Some will be hiring, while others will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers and other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.
Employers expected to participate in the event include: AAFES at Fort Gordon, ACRUX Staffing, AFLAC, Amerigroup, Beauti-Control, Beulah Grove Campus, Career Personnel, Century 21, East Central Regional Hospital, FPL Foods, Georgia Army National Guard, Georgia Pacific, Golden Rule Living, Hands To Lend, Home Depot, Jerome Personnel, Kelly Services, Mary Kay, Rescare, Richmond County School System, SCANA, Spherion, Sun Trust Bank, T-Mobile, Tupperware, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Social Security Administration, Waddell and Reed, Waffle House, and Yellow Pages.
