GA Woman Shot, Toddler Son Beaten

Police say a woman was shot and her 1-year-old son beaten during a home invasion in south Fulton County. Chattahoochee Hills police Chief Damon Jones says 22-year-old Nikki Neely was shot in the head during the attack just before 9 p.m. Monday. WSB radio reported that one person was in custody.

CHATTAHOOCHEE HILLS, Ga. (AP) - Police say a woman was shot and her 1-year-old son beaten during a home invasion in south Fulton County.

Chattahoochee Hills police Chief Damon Jones says 22-year-old Nikki Neely was shot in the head during the attack just before 9 p.m. Monday. WSB radio reported that one person was in custody.

Jones says Neely’s year-old son, Javante, was beaten and suffered severe cuts.

Neely was in critical condition at Atlanta Medical Center. Her son was hospitalized at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

Jones says robbery appeared to be the motive. Police were still seeking more suspects.
