ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Doctors are preparing a 42-year-old woman who was doused with kerosene and set on fire for skin grafts.
Elisa Davenport’s brother says surgeons at the Doctors Hospital of Augusta worked Thursday to prepare her for the skin grafts. He says she is in an induced coma.
Police say Davenport suffered burns to 60 percent of her body after she was set on fire Tuesday in a blaze that gutted her home and spread to other units of an Athens apartment complex.
Authorities say the fire was set by Phillip Scruggs, the woman’s boyfriend. They say Davenport was trying to end her relationship with the 49-year-old when she was set ablaze.
