Atlanta, GA—Governor Sonny Perdue says new driver’s license cards will combat document fraud and protect your identity.
The cards are designed to be more difficult to counterfeit, alter or replicate.
Security features include ghost photos, a laser-engraved signature over the primary photo to minimize alterations, and a tamper resistant coating placed over the card.
Cards issued to those under 21 will be printed in a vertical format aiding retailers and law enforcement to in identifying minors.
New card production will begin at Conyers, Covington, and Locust Grove in September.
The rest of the state will begin producing the new cards by the end of November.
Your current Georgia License is valid until the expiration date, then that card will be exchanged for the newly-designed card.
