Former NBA All-Star Speaks Out On Diabetes

Augusta, GA—An NBA legend was in the Garden City, Saturday. Former Atlanta Hawks star, Dominique Wilkins, was the guest speaker for the ‘Taking Control of Your Diabetes’ seminar held at the Marriott. The whole idea is to teach people how to live with the disease.

Dominique Wilkins, former Atlanta Hawks Star: “Athletics is one thing, healthcare is another. And, as a former athlete, I think that I can relate to people better because of my athletic career. You know, to be connected, to have more people looking up to you, to be an icon in my field, I think that I can connect quicker with people than, unfortunately, than more than a doctor could.”

Wilkins was diagnosed with diabetes after he retired from basketball.
