Augusta, GA—Some parents from across the CSRA lined up in numbers at Bobby Jones Ford-Lincoln-Mercury to take part in DNA Life-Print child safety.
Parent: “The technology is there today for us to use it.”
Their children got an FBI biometric fingerprint profile as well as a digital photograph. Event organizers say this information will be useful to law enforcement in the event a child going missing or is kidnapped.
Parent: “DNA, there’s nothing like it so it should help a lot.”
Parents also received a child safety journal and a home DNA ID Kit. Once the child’s fingerprints are entered into the FBI database, it will become available to all law enforcement agencies across the United States.
Kenneth Williams, Augusta: “Even if they were to be found dead, at least you can get them identified.”
This biometric fingerprinting kit is endorsed by John Walsh. His son was kidnapped and killed years ago. Parents say hearing about children that were abducted brings tears to their eyes.
Severo Medina, Augusta: “I put myself in their shoes. If it was my kid, it’s very bad.”
Organizers say, if a child is kidnapped, or goes missing, having this information could greatly increase their chance of quickly recovering their child, if they immediately provide this information to local police. The program is based out of Davie, Florida.
