It’s something the state court solicitor says he’s looking into. We’re talking about Woody Merry’s appearence at Thursday’s Augusta Commission budget hearing. Merry was talking budget, but when his 4-minute time limit was up, he did not want to give it up. Merry is under a court order to not disrupt a public meeting in Augusta and Richmond County for one year, but Thursday’s outburst was two weeks shy of one year.
Augusta, Ga—It’s something the state court solicitor says he’s looking into. We’re talking about Woody Merry’s appearence at Thursday’s Augusta Commission budget hearing.
Merry was talking budget, but when his 4-minute time limit was up, he did not want to give it up.
Woody Merry, CSRA Help: “Thank you, alright, Mister Russell, thank you…why is omi…?“
City Administrator Fred Russell: “Your time is up, thank you.“
Merry: “Does anybody else want to speak, will you yield me your time?“
Russell: “Your time is up…“
Merry: “Will anybody yield me your time?“
The reason the state court is investigating Merry’s outburt is because of his fight with William Fennoy at an Augusta Coliseum Authority meeting, last year.
Merry was charged with simple battery, but the charge was placed on the “dead docket” as long as Merry agreed to follow a couple of provisions.
Harold Jones, November 17, 2008: “He has two terms, he has to complete one. He has to write a letter of apology, which he has done, to the Coliseum Authority and Mister Fennoy, and number two, he also had to make a promise that he would not interupt any public meeting in Augusta and Richmond County for a period of one year. He’s also promised to do that.“
Jones tells WJBF News Channel 6 he is reviewing the audio tape of the incident and questioning the city leaders in the room as witnesses. Jones also says he’s talked to Fennoy about pursuing charges. He says a decision will be made Monday.
