According to the Georgia DOT, startng at 9:00 p.m., Thursday night, April 30, through Tuesday night, May 5; weather permitting, there will be traffic shifts and ramp shifts on I-20 eastbound/westbound, in the area of Riverwatch Parkway, and west bound at the Georgia Welcome Center.
The I-20 entrance/exit ramps at Riverwatch and the entrance/exit ramp to the Georgia Welcome Center in Augusta will be shifted. This work is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. on Thursday.
Motorists are advised to slow down and use extra caution in this area and in all construction work zones. Motorists are also reminded to pay attention to all work zone/advisory signs and seek alternate routes when possible.
Richmond County Upcoming Lane And Road Closures
AUGUSTA – The Georgia Department of Transportation, Scott Bridge Company, Inc., and United Contractors, Inc., announce the following scheduled traffic changes for the week of May 4, weather permitting:
- Lane closure, Bobby Jones Expressway east/west, between Scott Nixon and Wheeler roads, 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. nightly, May 4-8.
- Ramp Closure, Interstate 20 west to Bobby Jones Expressway east, 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. nightly, May 4-5. Detours will be in place using Wheeler Road to I-20 east.
- Road closure, Marks Church Road west at Jamaica Road, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily, May 4-6. Traffic will be detoured using Walton Way west to Wheeler Road west.
This closure will not affect traffic exiting Bobby Jones Expressway west or Wheeler Road.
- Lane closure, Wheeler Road east between Bobby Jones Expressway and Agerton Lane, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily, May 5-8.
Richmond County law enforcement will be onsite. Traffic may be stopped for short intervals during these traffic operations.
Motorists are advised to use extra caution in construction work zones. Slow down, stay alert, pay attention to and obey all work zone/advisory signs. Seek alternate routes when possible. Georgia 511 is a free phone service that provides real-time traffic and travel information statewide, such as traffic conditions, incidents, lane closures, and delays due to inclement weather.
