Augusta, GA—Crews are digging at exit 199 of I-20 eastbound, Monday morning.

A tip came in that some possibly hazardous materials were buried along the interstate.

So far, they’ve found some concrete, a bag of trash, and some iron beams. The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) investigator on site says nothing is hazardous.

The contractor could be fined, because it’s illegal to bury solid waste without a permit.
