Counties South Of Atlanta Under Tornado Watch

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a tornado watch for the southern counties of metro Atlanta as a line of storms moves in from Alabama.

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. (AP) - The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a tornado watch for the southern counties of metro Atlanta as a line of storms moves in from Alabama.

Clayton, Fayette, Henry and Coweta counties are includes in the watch that runs through 2 p.m. Thursday. The Weather Service also has issued severe thunderstorm warnings for counties along the Alabama border as the storms enter Georgia.

Meanwhile, forecasters say all of metro Atlanta remains under a flood watch until late Saturday night. The forecast calls for widespread rainfall totals of 3 inches to 4 inches.

The Weather Service says the greatest threat will be from Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon when there’s a potential for tornadoes.
