Augusta, GA—Martha Tanksley is one of hundreds across the CSRA who take on the difficult task of raising their grandkids. Today some Christmas wishes came true for her and her family.
Christmas was not looking too bright for the Tanksley’s this year.
Martha Tanksley, Grandma: “With me being sick a lot, it’s just tight, everything’s just tight. So this is a true blessing, I am just so thankful.”
Martha came to her door, Wednesday afternoon, to greet a yard full of visitors. Visitors there…to spread Christmas cheer to Tanksley and her 7 grandchildren.
Sylvia Glover, Serenity Charity Club: “We want to give to the kids and make them happy. Every child deserves to have a happy Christmas, every child deserves to open up something for Christmas and this is what we want to do.”
The Serenity Charity Club teamed up with Augusta’s Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club to help families like Tanksley’s, complete their Christmas list.
Tanksley: “Honestly, I’ve never had this many people come to visit. I just love it, and we’re appreciative for gifts. My granddaughter there, she just prayed so hard. I want a bike, I want a bike, and it feels good, it feels great.”
Glover: “It almost just makes you want to cry. The kids are happy, and when they’re happy,I’m just happy. And I’m just so happy that we were able to do this for them, today.”
Wednesday, both groups visited 15 different families, giving 30 children some early Christmas gifts. Donations were provided by the Buffalo Soldiers, Serenity Charity Club and Augusta’s new basketball team, The Augusta Groove.
