According to Lynn Bailey with the Richmond County Board of Elections, District 1 candidate Anthony Jones has withdrawn from this fall’s race for Augusta Commission.

Official Press Release (via email):
This is to notify you that Mr. Anthony Jones, candidate in the Augusta Commission District 1 race, has officially withdrawn his name as a candidate in that race by filing a notarized affidavit with this office today.  Because the ballots have been printed and the voting equipment has been tested and sealed, Mr. Jones’s names will still appear on the ballot.  Any votes that Mr. Jones may receive during the November 3, 2009 General Election will be considered null and void and will not be counted.  Our office will notify voters by putting notices in all mail out ballots for District 1 and by posting notices at all early/advance voting sites and at the various polling locations in District 1 on Election Day.
