Augusta, GA—According to Mark Bowen, Chief Deputy Richmond County Coroner, a body found under the Riverwatch Parkway bridge, near 15th Street, has been identified.
The body has been identified as David Dunaway, 48, from Carrollton, Georgia. Dunaway is a homeless man who was found by a man going fishing at the Canal.
Dunaway’s body was found under the bridge, west of 15th Street, laying on the ground. It appears that Dunaway was on a makeshift pallet or bed.
The incident is being handled as a homicide.
Dunaway was pronounced dead at the scene, and will be taken to the GBI – Augusta Crime Lab, on Wednesday morning, for an autopsy.
