COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A Roman Catholic school in a Columbia suburb is reopening after it closed to clean the campus when more than 20 percent of its students became ill.

Cardinal Newman School in Forest Acres closed Wednesday to clean up following a flu-like illness.

The school has 485 students in grades 7-12 and Principal Jacqualine Kasprowski says there usually are about 10 daily absences.

The State newspaper reported that 15 percent of the students were out Monday. Nearly 100 students were out Tuesday and another 18 students became sick at school.

The school told state health officials they used a fogging disinfectant normally used in locker rooms.
