Overnight Fire Damages Units At Augusta Apartment Complex

An overnight fire at an Augusta apartment complex causes major damage to two units…leaving families homeless. The fire happened at Cedar Grove Apartments on Richmond Hill Road. Fire crews got the call just before 11 p.m., Monday night.

Augusta, GA—An overnight fire at an Augusta apartment complex causes major damage to two units…leaving families homeless.

The fire happened at Cedar Grove Apartments on Richmond Hill Road. Fire crews got the call just before 11 p.m., Monday night.

Fire officials say the fire started in the kitchen in one of the bottom units.

Augusta Fire Rescue’s Chief Cary Russell explains what happened: “We’ve got two units that’s burned…one had the front door was burned. We could not find out if anyone was home…we had to break the door down to make sure no one was inside asleep.“

No one was hurt. Red Cross will assist the two families displaced by the fire.
