AUGUSTA, GA—Cudos, a local gift shop, was named Small Business of the year at a luncheon Monday in Augusta. The award is sponsored by the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce.
Owner Audrey Snuggs and partner and General Manager Sloane Wiggins accepted the award, and thanked their employees. Said Snuggs, “Behind every successful business owner is the team of people that is really running the business.”
The award is given annually to a Chamber member that exemplifies the success and commitment required to prosper in small business. Selection criteria include staying power, growth, creativity, response to adversity and contribution to the community.
Senator Johnny Isakson, a Georgia Republican, was the guest speaker for the event. Isakson is no stranger to the challenges small businesses face. His business career began in 1967, when he opened his first small, family-owned real estate business, Northside Realty. He later served as president of Northside for 20 years, presiding over the company’s growth into the largest independent residential real estate brokerage company in the Southeast and one of the largest in America.
The Small Business of the Year finalists were: Dino’s Chicago Express, Cudos! and Jani-King of Augusta. Approximately 200 people attended the event at the Augusta Marriott.
