Fatal Accident Believes To Be Weather-Related
Authorities say the wintry weather contributed to a wreck that killed three people in west Georgia's Haralson County.
One Man Injured In Frohman Street Shooting
A shooting occurred on the 2800 block of Frohman Street in Augusta, Thursday afternoon. Investigators tell us that a man walked up to the door of the Frohman Street residence, and knocked on the door. When a resident opened the door, the man mentioned something about a cell phone, then another man, fired 8 rounds from an unidentified firearm. One round struck the man who opened the door.

Governor Sanford Refuses To Endorse Republican Candidate
South Carolina's governor is sitting out the presidential endorsement season for now, even as Republicans travel the state seeking the presidential nomination.
McCain Says He’ll Win South Carolina
Republican presidential candidate John McCain says he intends to win the South Carolina primary, despite his second-place finish in Michigan. The Arizona senator told supporters Tuesday he will win in South Carolina, where a loss eight years ago derailed his candidacy.
Smoking Ban Debate Postponed In S.C. House
A House committee has postponed voting on a statewide smoking ban. The House Judiciary Committee wants to see if the South Carolina Supreme Court upholds smoking bans in roughly a dozen cities and counties across the state.

Highway In Aynor Shut Down
Authorities say U.S. 501 was shut down in both directions in the town of Aynor while firefighters battled a blaze at a shop where cabinets are built. Horry County Fire Rescue Sergeant Todd Cartner says there were people in a building when the fire started but no injuries have been reported.

Stricter Dogfighting Measure Approved
A legislative committee today approved a measure making it a felony to host dog fights or train canines for dogfighting. The bill would for the first time make it a felony to host or bet in a dogfight, and to sell, train or transport fighting dogs. A first offense would carry a prison term of up to five years, a minimum $5,000 fine or both.
Gov. Perdue’s Budget Proposal Highlights
For the budget year beginning July 1, 2008, and ending June 30, 2009, the governor proposes a budget of $21.4 billion, an increase of about $1.2 billion, or 5.6 percent, from the present spending level.
Rains Restore Reservoir To Normal Level
Officials had feared Bear Creek Reservoir in northeast Georgia could run dry by Christmas, but they now say it should reach full pool by Monday because of recent rain. Officials say the 6 inches of rain Athens received last month and early this month have pushed the level of the reservoir back to its normal level. The forecast calls for more rain this week.
