Everyone has heard the reports of bear sightings in the CSRA, mostly in Columbia County. On Thursday, we asked viewers and our Facebook friends to give us suggestions for the bear’s name at WJBF News Channel 6’s Facebook Page. We thank everyone who chimed in with their favorite name for the bear. It was tough, but we came up with the five finalist for the bear’s name, and let you vote on the bear’s name. Augusta, GA—Everyone has heard the reports of bear sightings in the CSRA, mostly in Columbia County.

On Thursday, we asked viewers and our Facebook friends to give us suggestions for the bear’s name at WJBF News Channel 6’s Facebook Page. We thank everyone who chimed in with their favorite name for the bear.

It was tough, but we came up with the five finalist for the bear’s name, and let you vote on the bear’s name. We are proud to announce the bear finally has a name…

The winning name is Jess Passenthru. The name was submitted on our Facebook page by Roberta Birdy Connolly.

The announcement was made Friday, June 19th, during our 6:00 p.m. newscast, and on WJBF.com.

I am so disappointed, just heard about Name that Bear Contest about 30 minutes ago. But you had already chosen the finalist. I don’t know how that happened.

Any way, I would have named him, “Roamie”, that is all he is doin” just “roamin” the area and checkin” us out. He is headed for the Lake at Mistletoe. He knows what he is doin” and he will be fine. People up at Mistletoe are great Folks. They will watch out for him and the folks that visit the Park.
