COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - President Barack Obama is making another impassioned plea for passage of his health care plan, calling it a “defining struggle of this generation.“
Obama went to the University of Maryland campus in suburban College Park Thursday to push again for the plan a day after the Senate Finance Committee released its version of legislation overhauling the system.
At a campaign-style rally in the college athletic center, Obama said that America is “the only nation on Earth that leaves millions without health insurance.“ He said he ran for president not to “just clean up yesterday’s crises,“ but also to “build a better future.“ He said the the country is closer to health care reform than ever before.
