NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - A law enforcement official says authorities are investigating whether the Yale killing suspect’s work attitude led to the confrontation.

The official said Thursday that investigators don’t know why Raymond Clark III might have killed 24-year-old Annie Le, because he won’t talk to police. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing and many details remain sealed.

People interviewed by police have painted Clark as a controlling man who viewed the laboratory as his territory.

Authorities are investigating whether that led to the killing, but the official says that’s just a theory.

And the official says authorities don’t necessarily need a motive because they have strong forensic evidence.

New Haven, CT—Little more than a week after Annie Le vanished, police arrested a Yale University lab technician, charging him with her murder.

Chief James Lewis, New Haven Police Department: “Raymond J. Clark III, 24 years of age, of Middleton, Connecticut was arrested at a motel in Cromwell, Connecticut.“

Authorities descended on the Super 8 Motel where they found clark in room 214. He was arrested after police compared his DNA to hundreds of pieces of evidence collected from the crime scene.

Capt. Roy Nelson, Cromwell, CT Police Department: “Very peaceful, ah, it was an uneventful arrest as far as that goes, ah, it was…he was cooperative and he’s in the custody of New Haven at this time.“

Police declined to discuss motive, but they said Clark and Le had no romantic involvement. ABC News is told he had sent her e-mails complaining about the cleanliness of her work.“

Chief Lewis: “This is not about urban crime, it’s not about university crime, it’s not about domestic crime, but an issue of workplace violence, which is becoming a growing concern around the country.“

Aaron Katersky, reporting: “Clark is now being held on a $3 million bond. Yale’s president said his arrest is a relief but called it ‘frightening’ one of its employees could be responsible.“
