LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A handwritten motion by the man charged in the slaying of an Arkansas television anchorwoman from South Carolina will be the focus of a court hearing.
The motion by Curtis Lavelle Vance asks Judge Chris Piazza to relieve his team of state-provided public defenders. Vance claims his defense lawyers “already criminally and conspiratorially” crippled his defense by withholding material from him.
The hearing will be held Tuesday morning at the Pulaski County courthouse.
Vance faces a capital murder charge in the death of Anne Pressly, a morning anchorwoman from Greenville, S.C., for Little Rock television station KATV. Vance’s case is scheduled to go to trial Sept. 9. Prosecutors have yet to say whether they’ll seek the death penalty.
