New York City—Smokers in New York City may soon have fewer places to light up.

The city’s health commissioner says he may try to ban smoking at city parks and beaches. He says the plan is part of his overall strategy to further curb smoking rates in the city.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who implemented a smoking ban in restaurants and bars, says it might be logistically impossible to enforce the rule outdoors.
