UNDATED—It’s been about a month since Hurricane Ike hit the Gulf Coast, and the Associated Press has released a report on environmental damage.

An analysis of federal data shows that half a million gallons of crude oil spilled into the Gulf of Mexico….32 oil platforms were severely damaged, others were destroyed.

So far, no major issues for the wildlife along the coast…only a handful of animals have been affected by the oil, and workers are continually monitoring the situation.
