YOUNGSTOWN, Fla. (AP) - A former small-town Georgia mayor was arrested on the Florida Panhandle for allegedly driving the getaway car in a bank robbery.

Forty-eight-year-old Terry Musgrove in 1979 became one of the country’s youngest mayors. He won with a 13-vote margin in south Georgia’s town of Newton before his 20th birthday.

Musgrove has since faced legal trouble. He resigned the mayorship in 1985 after pleading guilty to distributing a small amount of cocaine to undercover agents. He was also convicted in the past decade on several drug and theft crimes in Georgia.

Musgrove and his brother allegedly robbed a north Florida bank Tuesday before leading authorities on a 100 mph chase.

He was expected to get an attorney at a first appearance Thursday.
