Augusta, GA—Some big strides have been made in the past year in the Richmond County School System, according to Superintendent Dana Bedden.
Dr. Bedden announced, Thursday afternoon at Somewhere In Augusta, that the county’s graduation rate increased 6.7 percent to 70.4 percent this past school year.
Dr. Bedden also announced that 9 out of the county’s 10 middle schools made adequate yearly progress (AYP).
Morgan Road Middle School, Spirit Creek Middle School, and Tubman Middle School all came off the “needs improvement” list.
Dr. Bedden says the dedication of teachers and students played a major role in the improvements, saying they had to do more with less this past year.
