Suspect Identified In Aiken Robbery Of Woman And Baby

Aiken, SC—According to Capt. Troy Elwell, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) has obtained warrants on Tequan Martrell Holmes, 19, of the 200 block of Snipes Pond Road, in Aiken, South Carolina, after a victim who was robbed at gunpoint with her baby in her arms, picked the suspect out of a photo lineup on Thursday.

Holmes will be charged with Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Crime, Armed Robbery, Pointing and Presenting a Firearm at a Person.

On July 7, ACSO responded to Whispering Pines Terrace, in Aiken, for an armed robbery. The victim stated she had exited her vehicle with her 2-month-old child. The suspect approached her from behind and pointed his weapon at the child and stated, “your child or the money”. The victim threw her money on the ground and the suspect grabbed the money and fled on foot.

Tequan Martrell Holmes should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on Holmes’ whereabouts is asked to contact the aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

Aiken County, SC—It was in front of a home, on a dead end street in Aiken County, that authorities say a young mother was held up at gunpoint.

Captain Troy Elwell, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office: “An unknown male approached her from behind, pulled a handgun, pointed the handgun at her baby in her arms, racked the weapon, and then made the comment, ‘Your money or your baby.‘“

The victim’s mother says she walked out on her porch and saw the man holding a gun to her granddaughter’s head. She says it was the most terrifying thing she’d ever seen.

Sonya Greene, the victim, handed her baby to her mother then took off in her car, chasing the man she says robbed her. “I think she let her motherly instincts, and her anger, take over at that point. We’d prefer…if someone is in that type situation…for them to just gain as much information as they can. Don’t give chase. Call us, let us do the chasing,“ says Capt. Elwell.

Police dogs tracked someone for a while, but weren’t successful because of all the foot traffic in the area. They say a man who goes by the street name “T-Mac” is a person of interest. Authorities are putting together a photo lineup for the victim. They say, after that, they could name a suspect.
