Woman Arrested For Beating Nephew
According to Sgt. Calvin Chew, an Augusta woman has been arrested charges of cruelty to children. On Tuesday, September 15th, at approximately 7:20 p.m., the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was called out to the 2200 block of Walden Drive, when a neighbor heard a child screaming for help. Upon officers’ arrival, it was found that a 7-year-old child was being disciplined by his aunt, Latashious Unique Tart, 26, for misbehaving in school.
Augusta, Ga—According to Sgt. Calvin Chew, an Augusta woman has been arrested charges of cruelty to children.
On Tuesday, September 15th, at approximately 7:20 p.m., the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was called out to the 2200 block of Walden Drive, when a neighbor heard a child screaming for help.
Upon officers’ arrival, it was found that a 7-year-old child was being disciplined by his aunt, Latashious Unique Tart, 26, for misbehaving in school.
Further investigation revealed that the child had excessive welts and abrasions on his back, legs, arms and buttocks from being beaten with a belt by his aunt. It was also learned that the child had been handcuffed to a table and stripped of his clothing while he was being beaten. The child was subsequently taken to MCG Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Tart has been was charged with 1 count of Felony Cruelty to Children in the First Degree.
