Suspect Wanted For Attempted Robbery At Augusta Dollar General Store

According to Lt. Scott Peebles, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who attempted to rob a clerk at the Dollar General, located at 1801 Central Avenue, Monday morning.

Augusta, GA—According to Lt. Scott Peebles, Monday morning, at about 9:40 a.m., the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to an attempted robbery at the Family Dollar, located at 1801 Central Avenue.

Investigators learned that the suspect in the photos above entered the business and retrieved several items. The suspect took the items to the clerk, as if to purchase them. The suspect then produced a small handgun, which you can see in his right hand, and demanded that the clerk open the register. The clerk was unable to open the register and screamed when the suspect attempted to open the register himself. The suspect then fled on foot without getting any money.

The suspect was wearing a New York Yankees jacket, with quilted pattern, turned inside out.

The suspect was described as a black male in his mid to late 20’s, about 5’7” tall, 140 to 150 pounds, with a goatee, and acne scars on his face.
