Aiken, SC—An Aiken County teacher accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a female student is out on bond.
Aiken County investigators say 38-year-old Craig Kessler turned himself in Friday afternoon.
The arrest warrant says Kessler secretly met with a 15-year-old girl at South Aiken High School between November 2008 and December 2008.
The victim’s mother found out about the alleged relationship and alerted authorities. An arrest warrant was then issued for Kessler.
Sgt. Aaron Dowdy, Aiken Department of Public Safety: “What’s been documented so far is some kissing and touching. Apparently, they were meeting at different parts of the school. Whether that was during school or after school, I don’t know at this point, but it was kissing and touching.“
Sergeant Dowdy says the Aiken County Board of Education has placed Kessler on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

The child did know it was wrong because she hid it from her mother.
This is the problem I see with society everyone is saying that a 15 year old can make responsible sexual decisions yet the same people complain about the rates of teen pregnancy. That is very hypocritical and sends teens mixed messages. As adults (especially teachers) we should set examples for teens to follow. This 15 year old knew it was wrong yes, but her mind is probably not old enough to make the right decision yet. Yes a 15 year old can make sexual decisions but are those decisions going to be the responsible one? Probably not because the only responsible sexual decision a 15 year old can make is to NOT have sex at all!! All I am saying is this teacher took advantage of a vulnerable child.
kjohnson: How can you blame only the teacher? Darfur is right, the child knew what she was doing. Kids are a lot smarter than most people give them credit for. We’re using her age to discriminate between knowing what’s wrong and what’s right. The truth of the matter is, she does know. You’re right, you should look up to the teacher and not meet for “kissing and touching!“ The child knows that, however, so why can’t we blame her at all exactly? It takes two people to be involved in things like this. Age has nothing to do with this; the child is in high school and can think on her own when it comes to these decisions. I’m sure Darfur was thinking about what he was saying because he was absolutely right. Fifteen year old girls have the capability of making sexual decisions. I would knowing seeing as I just graduated high school. Kids are losing their virginity before high school or their first year in. They do have the capability. The child should be punished for allowing this to go on as well as the teacher.
The child knows what is right and what isn’t. The student knew what she was doing. They met more than once for “kissing and touching.“ People are making it so that the child is the victim. No. If they were the victim, she wouldv’e reported it immediately. That’s what I believe because random girls think they can ruin peoples lives. I don’t know if this whole situation is true or not, but I think the child should be punished also.
darfur: How can you blame the child in this situation? A teacher is someone you should be able to trust and look up to, not someone you meet at different areas of the school for “kissing and touching”! This child is 15 she is not even able to drive a car alone and you are expecting her to be capable of making sexual decisions for herself? Think about what you are saying.
so if the teacher is found guilty does he have to pay back all the money that the school board is paying him while on “paid administrative leave”?
Why isn’t the girl in trouble too?
Clearly, she knew what she was doing, she’s 15!
