UPDATED: MCG Attempted Sexual Assault Suspect Sought

Augusta, GA—A man is wanted for a violent attack that happened Wednesday night on a fourth floor bathroom at MCG hospital. Authorities say he was waiting in a bathroom stall when the woman came in. The assault was interrupted when someone else came into the bathroom.

Richmond County Sheriff’s Office investigators spent Friday following up leads, but he is still out there, and very dangerous.

Deborah Humphries is a spokesperson for MCG Health…

Deborah Humphries, MCG Health: “Immediately, we searched the building from top to bottom, floor to floor, room by room. I’d like to point out that we have excellent security. We have security guards that patrol the premises. We do have security devices that supplement those patrols…but crime occurs, it occurs anywhere, it occurs everywhere, and despite our best efforts, this unfortunate incident occurred.“

Despite vigorous security at the hospital, Humphries says the hospital will review its current security measures to determine whether there are other measures that can be put in place.

Humphries: “Our challenge is to maintain a balance between safeguarding our families, our patients, our employees…while at he same time maintaining the appropriate access.“

If yor recognize the man in the photo call the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
